City 2′s almost edge out Carnegie – Sat 6th April – Final Score 1.1

Dunfermline City twos matched up against Carnegie 5's on Saturday.  At the start of the game Carnegie made the most of the running and it was no surprise when they took the lead midway through the first half. City's youngsters dug deep though and as the game progressed they came more and more into the game.

City gain revenge on Students – City V Stirling Uni Sat 6th April – 5.2 to City

City faced up to Stirling University 2nd eleven on Saturday in what promised to be one of Cities toughest battles of the season so far.  In the previous match between the two sides Stirling won 5.1 in a match where Stirling fielded the bulk of their first eleven while City struggled for players.

Weekend Summary: City defeat Stirling in top of table clash as twos tie with Carnegie

City got revenge on Stirling Uni on Saturday for the defeat against a ringed University side earlier in the season.  The game was tough going - saw lots of cards, lots of action and talking points - but at the end of the day City were victors by 5 goals to 2. (Goalscorers Rintoul x3 Walker and Miller).   City twos were unfortunate not to defeat Carnegie 5's on Saturday. Carnegie took the lead - but a leveler from David Tanton won them a point.  Tanton then missed a late opportunity to win the game and Dave Sutton agonizing saw his well struck shot cleared off the line by Rod Ruzzak.

Big weekend for City sides

This Saturday will be one of the most vital in the run in to the end of the (extended) season.  City ones face Stirling Uni 2's at Queen Anne in a 10.45 start.   This will be a bit of a grudge match after City were well beaten by Stirling Uni earlier in the season.  City are more or less at full strength for his clash and welcome back into the fold Bambi Burns - who himself will be looking for revenge after receiving an undeserved red card against the university side last season.

Happy Easter – no games this weekend

Hi All - Dunfermline City hockey club would like to wish you all a Happy Easter.   There are no games this weekend - although a few of our members are off to Bridlington to team up with some Carnegie players in their easter hockey festival.  We wish them good luck - and hope there isnt too much snow to interrupt their play.   Back to normal service next weekend with the ones facing Stirling Uni at home on the Saturday - and the twos a home game against Carnegie 5's on the Saturday - then a trip to Peebles on the Sunday. Weekend Preview in the Siberian Spring

Despite the Baltic weather conditions for the middle of spring - City prepare for another big game on Saturday. This week City face Edinburgh University 5's (who have now been renamed the 6's as there 6's got promoted ahead of their 5's last season.) in what promises to be another tough encounter at the "Freezing" Queen Anne high school.   The Uni side are currently mid table and as you would expect with a mid table side have had some very good results and some not so good results. The out of date league table has them played 13 won 6 lost 6 and drawn 1 - so a very mixed batch.

City 2s fight hard but still lose to Clydesdale in Reserve plate competition – Sun 17th March – City 0 Clydesdale IV 5

On Sunday City twos faced Clydesdale 4’s in the reserve plate competition.  This would be a big coupon buster against if City were to get through to the next round.   Against a side playing at a higher level city packed in the midfield playing a 4-5-1 formation initially to see what they were up against. The City defence was minus the experiences Kenny Buttercase who pulled out due to back problems.
